This is my first thread and post on SO. Anyway I want to know what people actually think of the Michael Vick situation. I personally think he got hosed in the biggest way possible. I do not understand how he can be treated this way for his pleasure sport while something like a rodeo can go on and everyone thinks that is ok. The only reason it is a federal crime is because of gambling not the dogs but he got screwed. Don't get me wrong he needed an ego check just like a lot of other players in all major sports but damn they where hard on this guy. I want to know what you guys think. I hope he gets out and some team signs him and he kicks everyone around and then gets a big money deal and shows people whats up. I then hope when that happens that he tells eveyone who doubted him to FO.

I don't know Vick, but he seems like a real piece of crap to me.
I have to assume that when the first post that calls dog fighting a "pleasure sport" and compares dog fighting with rodeos, you are trolling for the biggest response that you can get.

Oj is a dumb*** so no that will not be my second post. I want to know how two animals fighting each other is worse than a human who obviously has superior abilities over a cow roping said cow around the neck and dragging it to the ground is better than two equal animals fighting. Remember cows are sacred in some countries which means and dogs are not sacred anywhere. now before you tell me those countries are stupid (which I would agree they are) the point is it is just an animal.
Anyway I have been on OSO for years and feel that this site was greatly needed for the fact that oso is so slow I actually don't visit as much because it takes to much time.

You were not personally attacked. I feel that you are basically trolling.
I mentioned that while I do not know Vick, he seems like a piece of crap to me.
People who post threads knowing full well that they will bring strong responses should be prepared for strong responses. And not cry personal attack the first time someone disagrees.
Start a thread about your offshore boat, we will have something in common and we can start over.

I have horses, cats, dogs and a donkey, and the dogs are the only ones allowed in the house. I breed and raise the horses and each one is named and consider them pets but I have also sold a couple that haven't worked out. The cats stay in the barn, they are free to roam, all are current on shots get fed everyday and are spayed or nuetered. Pedro the donkey kind of got dumped on us so we keep him with the horses and will till he passes. The dogs, Ellie and Lucky are family, they eat, sleep, play and vacation with us. Lucky my best buddy is with me 24/7 goes to work everyday, ask the people at work if he's just a dog. Look at the dog thread on this site, it didn't ask about pets, maybe you should read some of the stories in there on people's family. I've seen more threads on dogs passing on or having surgery then other family members, mother, father, kids etc.
With that said dogs hold a special place in my family and when Vick killed them personally because they didn't performed, I thought the least they could do is boot his sorry *** from professional sports.
Michael Vick paid a much higher price than just about any of us could (he had more to loose than any of us). What he did is against the law, and besides a cow is roped, tackled, buised maybe...then let go. Those dogs often fight to the death..........now, I don't have a dog, but be-littling the life of a dog is a sure way to pizz off alot of member here.
BTW: I live in VA and have been a huge Va Tech fan since long before Michael Vick appeared. The Vick brothers are a perfect example for young kids how NOT to live your life. Michael got handed way to much and it ruined his younger brother too. The fact that the FEDS locked him up and now the state wants to go after him for the same charges is ridculous to me. He's paid his price and we'll still ridicule him, but if a team wants to field him they should be allowed to.

Comparing dog fighting to rodeo is apples to oak trees. Dog fighting is sick, sadistic and beyond cruel both in the ring and out. The dogs are intentionally beaten, teased, and starved among other things to make them more vicious in the fighting ring.
A rodeo on the other hand (you used calf roping as an example). Theese animals live daily life on the farm just like any other animal. Being roped and tied for a few secconds doesnt hurt the animal at all, ever notice how they spring right back up after turned loose? In a dogfight how many loosing dogs spring to their feet and trot away?????
As for Vick, I dont know what his punishment was, but anything short of a mauling within an inch of his life was getting off to easy.

Anyone who has THAT much going for him and can't put the "thug" lifestyle behind him long enough to make the most out of his life is an idiot. The guy is a loser.

Sometimes, although rare, they don't spring up, I don't know what the percentage is but some calves break their necks.

It is far from rare for these "sportsman" to beat or kill a dog that doesn't fight or loses a fight.
If I remember from the stuff that came out in his trial. Him and his crew would drown dogs, or swing them over their head and slam them against a tree or the ground to kill them.
If he ever plays in the NFL again it will be a travesty of justice.

Maybe if and when he plays again, and has a bad game, the coaches should be allowed to beat his azz....or maybe starve him. Hell, if he has a bad season, maybe they could electocute him or drown him like he did to his losing dogs.

I totally agree... how many times do you here about a professional athlete getting busted for things, like drugs... I heard a while back that some player was busted for selling coke... he had millions! why would you be selling it! like he needed more money... thugs.....makes me sick. This is one reason why I can care less about sports.. just a bunch of crybabies.
