Is it me, or does the picture of the 35' "go fast boat" look more like a big aluminum jon boat??

The crazy thing abou this tax is that it is when the owner sells his boat! So the owner gets hit twice - first when he buys the boat he has to pay a 5% excise tax. Then when he decides to sell, if he sells it for more than $25K then he has to pay a second tax on the selling price. Pure BS...

Interesting that the Updated story Headline is, "Crews remove torched yachts from marina" but later in the news article it states, "Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, but do not believe foul play was involved". Which is it, were they torched or was it an accident? Interesting!
