Got the 10Gig 3G-

Looking to connect my laptop to an app which routes my traffic thru my iPhone to the net.

What are you all using? Have to jailbreak it 1st? Got a step-by-step?

I connect my Laptop to my Blackjack via Bluetooth using the Internet Sharing program in Windows.

If your Laptop runs Windows and since the iPhone does not run Windows, you may have a problem getting them to talk to each other.

Good luck!

Good grief! I run one program (Internet Sharing) on my Blackjack. I don't have to "Jailbreak" anything!

I'm keeping my Windows-based phone. :D

I guess I won't be getting a Blackberry any time soon. :p

here's the ironic thing. and this is no dig at you Clay. windows users put with so much stupid and unnecessary stuff from their operating system where Macs just eloquently do it. but in this case the iphone doesn't eloquently do untethered DUN (Dial Up Networking) - it does it like windows normally does things - you gotta force it to do it. And then windows zealots get on and say stuff like Good grief - ... So, I guess touche.

If DUN is important to you, the IPhone isn't your phone - yet. DUN will be available in time, as it is only a software update away. But when it gets high enough on someone's list to write, is the million dollar question. Before I switched to the IPhone I used DUN extensively - but that was because the mobile browser sucked really bad. The IPhone's browser is good enough and is compatible with the sites I need to visit.

The biggest disappointment to me is the still missing feature of being able to text and receive pictures.

BTW, unless you are a geek, and if you were you wouldn't be asking these questions - don't jailbreak your iphone.

+1

They should make it so when you click the viewmymessage link on a text it takes the id and password with it.

Surf the net thru laptop, MMS and better cam/zoom with video is all I need to be happy

I have a cell phone for cell phone stuff and one of those usb airsticks for laptop internet. The air stick is small, will fit in laptop bag and is faster than tethering. it's fast enough that I ditched the cable modem all together. now if anyone can tell me how to make it work with chart navigator, I'd REALLY be happy.

I had one of the cell airsticks for 2 years. Good to get around on and worth having but was hoping to use my cell vs having both

I was able to tether when I had my blackberry but found my Verizon Aircard to be faster and MUCH more reliable. Plus it does not tie up my phone while I am surfing.

Sorry- 16G white since late July-ish when this size came out

Alright didn't come out so clear but since I wrote on it and took the pic; I'm posting it!

I get on the net thru the phone- just would be nice to tether my laptop to it like my buddies do w/Blackberries

My Blackjack has two channels. One for voice and one for data.

I can tether my laptop via Bluetooth and surf at 3G speeds. At the same time I can talk on the phone with (or without) my bluetooth earpiece.

Best of both worlds with one piece of hardware! :D

Apple is watching...

Saturday I tried to update my contacts thru iTunes. Bricked my phone, DFU'ed it

I cleared my last backups in iTunes as well so still trying to remember my apps and weeding thru contacts.

To think I work in the tech industry...

Not quite. The UMTS technology is what provides simultaneous applications to run. Voice, data, email, sms, mms, all run on ATM packet pipes which is comprised of different layers. Each is given a certain amount of bandwidth in the data stream and voice always has priority. In a UMTS world, the phone is always "on." It doesn't work like the old days of TDMA, GSM, and AMPS, where you hit send and the phone looks for an available channel to hop on.
