Springfield, Ohio Plans to Build a Permanent State of the Art Multi-Use Powerboat Racing Facility

Leaders at the Clark County Fair and Springfield, Ohio are embarking on a new frontier, MOTORSPORTS, specifically Powerboat Racing.*

They’re in process of developing a permanent state of the art multi-use powerboat racing facility.*The 115-acre lake has been complete for several years and was a test facility for Past World Championship F1 Boat Race Team Owner and Springfield, OH native, Bill Chatfield.*Springfield officials and leaders were brought together just prior to Thanksgiving to do a feasibility study with Champion Boat Racers; Tim Seebold, Chris Fairchild, and Mark Proffitt.*

Drivers were ecstatic after the test and officials were impressed with the speeds and potential excitement that could come to Springfield, Ohio.

Chris Fairchild, Mercury Racing F1 Powerboat driver said, “I’ve raced on a variety of locations from a Mall retention pond to Three Rivers in Pittsburgh, this is the best and only permanent gated facility I know of for our style of boats.*This could become a great destination for all boat racers”

From the feasibility test the Clark County Fairgrounds has secured a grant from the Springfield Foundation to complete designs and layouts on the first phase of the facility.**“Our goal is to build a state of the art permanent multi use powerboat racing facility…a one of a kind destination for the boat racing community to call home” said Dean Blair, Clark County Fair Executive Director.

Clark County has contracted Dana Potts of B2B Motorsports and Chris Fairchild of Mercury Racing to begin develop of the phase one along with building the events and sponsorship.

“We’re in process of designing and building the first phase along with development of the first major event.*I could see this as the Indy 500 of Powerboat racing”, stated Dana Potts of B2B Motorsports.
As the 1st phase is complete more information will be released on events and opportunities to utilize the venue.*
