Can anyone give some history on why Tony retired? I know he was having great success in the early 80's world champ in 83 & 84. Then he had the big 48 cougar build, but then sold it to Gentry and retired....

chewiekw, Tony never had anything built. PERIOD. He even failed to pay the crew members which was his part and I might add the least expensive part of the racing.

Howard Bought the boats, paid the bills and Tony drove as Howard was not allowed to race due to business insurance.

I bought TRS lower unit's in the late 80's from a guy in California, that had something to do with that black Sutphen, he had a beautiful red and black Sonic.
