Cary 50 Spring Project

when the mills are running right they will turn 4900 - 5000. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened much in the last few years. This delaminating problem was hard to diagnose and hurt stuff in the process. I never once considered it was the fuel line.

When you pull your engines do you completely remove the hatch or disconnect the rams and hoist the hatch far enough to clear an engine?

Brad

beam is 14'6

i use a pettibone/terex and lift the hatch completely off. Putting it on last year i had to lift it over the roof of the shop and the wind came up started blowing it around and rocking the terex, i thought i was going to drop it through the roof of the shop. Scary day. Will post pics when i find them. Icould only get to 4600 rpm with the 19p 3 blades. The engines all made 495-505hp on the dyno. So i'm going to try the 17p this year.

Now that's a engine room !!!! Here is a 43' Cary that was a Texas Hurricane Ike victim [this Cary sunk on the hoist] my brother won it on ebay last fall. I volunteered to help him, all I can say she going to need lots of love before she makes it out on Lake St Clair. Here are a few pics of how she looked when she made it to Michigan. That engine hatch must weigh 1000 pounds, a high low had to remove it. The 3engines & tranmissions were shot and need to be replaced, along with most of the equipment. The Arneson drives though seem to be fine, that was a big relief.
After showing my brother the pictures of the 50' Carys that were posted here he is all fired up on this project.

That CARY 45 is kick a$$ boat with the arnesons, I'm jelious! when I bought mine it was in bad shape too and has been a big project but well worth it unless I add up the money I have spent. and yes the hatch on mine is over 1000lbs.

What ever became of the Cary 50 called "The Dealer". We used to oogle over it as a kid while it was parked at Shangri-La..... over 25 years ago.

it quit smoking and drinking, started taking steroids and working out and is now a Baia Azzurra.

The Dealer got passed around between the Davis's and the Moore's but I'm not sure of where it went after it left Grand.

Looks like you are trying to do a jet skier in, in your wake jump video on youtube. I love it when they come flying up behind us they have no idea how big the wake is behind the cary.....

it is hilarious to watch. They have great big balls when they first see you. Then the closer they get they start getting this O'Chit look on their face and then back out.

We had one last year that didnt back down and we went back to see if he was ok, real bad crash knocked the wind out of that boy.......luv it!!!

Looks great Brad. Now about that Baia.............

Love the Baia. I hope I'm in a position to buy it when it eventually comes up for sale. Something about a 63' 60,000 pound boat going nearly 60, throwing a 3 story roost 50yds long is appealing to me. But, I'm sick.

Translation: If my wife lets me.
