Alright, the season is winding down for most.
It's the time of year for some winter reading. What are you're favorite boating books, or stories to read??

King of Thunderboat row is good, but it's more of a coffee table book with great pictures.
I like SeaRace, and it has incredible statistics of the races over the years.

Stories are what I'm after.
"Betrayed" is a good one. Author Terwilliger.
"Turning the tide" - Kirkpatrick
I have a copy of "The Island" but haven't read it yet.

I recall an old article (mid 80's) in one of my Father's BOATING mags about a guy that was in the gulf in a "go-fast" that happened upon a group of bags of "square grouper", and brought them aboard, only to decide to "turn them back to the wild" after he realized what he was getting himself into.
I've been searching for that article, but haven't had any luck finding it.

I love the old stories, and the stories about some of our boats, and the history of the the dark side of this sport.
Who has stories to share??
I know my boat has supposed history indirectly, (A previous owner was a dealer or something) but don't know if the boat had any involvement.

Anyone have anything to share, or suggestions of good winter reads?

I never could bring myself to get past the first few chapters of Blue Thunder. Turning the Tide is a must read.

going to read "neither wolf nor dog" and try to understand "hamlet." i also might try to get to borders and see whats new.

Just read Blue Thunder about Don Aronow/ mafia connections. Interesting read and author seems to put a lot of loose ends together.

"Speed Kills" Not necessarily a good book, but another viewpoint on the Don A murder

"Driver"
Autobiography of Alex Roy who attempts to break the cross country drive time record of 32 hours and change.

Reading... pathophysio;ogy for the healcare professional, mosby drug guide, nursing diagnosis, med-surge nursing, calculate with confidence, fundamentals of nursing... you think I really want to read to relax?????

I just read Drag Boats of the Sixties. Basically a photo essay. But, a couple of interesting things. 1 how much boat racing Kieth Black did. 2 how many of those guys are dead...

try to understand "hamlet."

His Dad's brother is a bad person. His mom is a little less than cool. Never rush the rebound on the Queen.
Bad karma is really bad. Witches sometimes do public service. Sort of. Party with the german exchange students, they're cool. Never hide behind a curtain.

And finally... none of the kool aid is any good and don't get stuck by a kool aid sword. Even just a little.

Denmark is spooky. But all in all... the advice in Hamlet is good today. :D
