.380 auto ammo

I bought 3 -- 50 round boxes from someone on Gunbroker.com;I am embarrased to say what I paid for it, but it was all I could find for my new .380. Nothing in the stores or on websites.

Did you guys check cheaperthandirt.com ?

I usually check every couple of days and unless they just got some in they have been out for awhile. This is all they are showing in stock.

I don't feel so bad, I paid $39.00 per box of 50 for Magtech FMJ. I spoke to one of the local bulk ammo retailers at the gun show about .380 ammo being so short. He explained that domestic ammo makers produce all of the ammo calibers at one time to save on setup costs. He said they should be starting to make .380 again shortly.

Ammo supply is getting a little better around here. I actually picked up 500 rounds of 45's at Wally world the other day and 100 rounds of 40's. Check out doubletapammo.com if you haven't. I buy all of self defense ammo from him. It is HOT, shoots great, and descent prices. Too damn hot for plinking around though imo.

I just got an order from Sportsman Guide; http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/default.asp?kwtid=237622 that I ordered a couple of months ago and forgot about. They would send me an e-mail asking if I want to cancel the back order and I would keep it going. The price was too good. It showed up last night via UPS. 600 rounds of .40. FMJ, Cheap Russian ammo, but good enough for plinking and target shooting. Same with Bass Pro Shop. I ordered 500 rounds of Remington UMC .40 FMJ and it took about a month before that showed up. Neither one charged my card until the ammo shipped. Maybe the common handgun ammo sizes, .40, .45, 9mm, .380 are going to start showing up.
