Barry Obama-American Citizen or not?

I just saw on the morning news that the Supreme Court is going to follow up on some case that was brought by someone questioning if president-elect Obama is a naturalized US citizen (born in Hawaii or not). The newscast didn't much else about it, has anyone else heard any details? The news did basically say that it was a ridiculous case and would just be brought up and dismissed. So the inauguration will go on.

I'm no law expert (although I did go to sleep via anesthesia for a short time yesterday:ack2:), but would the high court visit it if it is BS?
 
The whole issue is fishy at best. They refuse to officially confirm or deny.
And hawaii's no help. Their official statement they made is that there is a birth certificate on file, not that he was born there. In Hawaii, a citizen can obtain a BC for a child that was born elsewhere. I have no doubt that he's a citizen, but natural born...that's quite uncertain.
 
And of course there is that small question of how he travelled to Pakistan back when Americans were prohibited from doing that, wouldn't be hard though if you had an Indonesian or Kenyan passport ...
 
I'm not trying to stir up any partisan chit....I just can't believe that it's taken this long to look at this and the fact that the media isn't saying anything about it! I heard it on DC channel 5 (fox) news this morning and it was literally a 15 second story. Nothing on abc, nbc or cbs....but they keep cutting away for updates on how long OJ is going to go to the pokey for!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

My girl Nancy and I were just talking about what a fiasco it would be if it's really true!!! Can you imagine???:eek::eek:
 
Wow, that's nice coverage there Cat, so Berg (not a right winger by any means) has no standing-well that clears up the BC question doesn't it???? NO it does not answer the fundamental question. Your messiah can stop all this RIGHT NOW, release the REAL BC and his college records, end of story. But this one just won't die becuase he WON'T or CAN'T. Maybe you kool-aid drinkers should ask him to put this one to rest or it could be a LONG 4 years. And as for the Annenberg organization, hmmm, where have I heard about that before????? Wait! I know! Barack Hussein Obama was the Chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, golly what a COINCIDENCE!!!! I'm shocked I tell ya, shocked!!!

I read your "urban legend" link, but I think what the Supreme Court is hearing about is the possibility that Obama wasn't born in Hawaii.

Cat is making a racist reference to former Ambassador Alan Keyes bringing suit. And also making a racist comment about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The reason this has to be done is that if blacks ever wake up to the fact that they can have consevative viewpoints and have a home and a voice in the Republican party, the Democratic party is DONE. Isn't it odd that Barack Hussein Obama spent FOUR times the money that the McCain campaign did and had virtually every mainstream media outlet orgasming at the very mention of his name and could still only beat McCain by a slim margin.
 
This whole thing is a farse. Anyone born on American soil is American. That has been and always will be true. This is the foundation of controversy for illegal immigrants who give birth in the US. If they are deported, do the kids go too.

Obama was born in Hawaii, his mom was an American and his father a student from Kenya. There is no controversy and the Supreme Court, like all courts below it, will refuse to hear the case.

There may be many reasons to dislike Obama, but don't get caught up in the schoolboy lockerroom talk. This is a non-starter and the foolish lawyer whois pursuing this is not going to get his 15 minutes of fame. Time to chase ambulances again.
 
Once again, Grandma says she saw him born, in Kenya. He traveled to a forbidden country during his college days, apparently with no problems, hard to do on a US passport. AND he has not produced a valid, certified BIRTH CERTIFICATE. This is all so simple, produce the BC and the college records and it all goes away. But I suppose after he is in the WH for a few years they will all turn up on the "Rose Law Firm Billing Records" table. This will not go away just wishing for it, he MUST produce the records, just the same as you or I would have to do if asked by ANY court or ANY employer. KISS, show the paper.
 
That's my point, it will not go away. Even if the Supremes punt it now, there are groups ready to challenge any and all bills he signs into law in the courts as being invalid. Eventually a judge is going to have to compell him to make these documents available, do it now and get it over with. I can certainly see a lower court judge not wanting to get into what might be a constitutional crisis, but that is what we have the Supremes for. Just think of the calamity if this goes on for 2 years and THEN he is found to be inelligible. Any and all legislation he signed would be invalid, all the appointees, and on, and on. This needs to be finished, he has the power, make it so, produce the records and the BC...

What would happen if it was found out that he is not a natural born citizen?

Does McCain become the President Elect or would Biden?

How would that work?
 
IIRC, it would depend on what the states have on their individual legislation. In other words some would disqualify all votes and award it to the next highest vote getter. But some I think would just remove the candidate and leave the rest of the ticket (Biden). That's why this has to be finished, conclusively, before Jan 20. I have already resigned myself that this guy is going to be President, but I don't want to see a bunch of energy wasted pursuing this when we could be working to make sure we take Congress back and make him a one-termer. And all hell would break loose if t were found out after he is seated, we could end up with a serious power vacuum at a time when it is least needed.
 
The part of this whole election that bother me more than anything else is the media bias. Actually this is more than bias, it is media activism. No way, would this, or anything else be swept under the rug iif it was Mccain being questioned.
