BLACK OUT in Key West: Where Were U ???

Walking Duval Street and almost all of Key West had a Black Out.

Where were you when it happened ?

I could not imagine being inside RICK"S Establishment at that time ! :ack2:

We were upstairs at Ricks. IT WAS FRACKING DARK!!!

We made our way over to Irish Kevin's. They had a generator, but it took a while to get the circuits sorted out. Right after they got the key circuits figured out, the power came back on.

Was waiting for a drink at GH's, saying our final goodbyes to my SOS crew.
The drink never came, so we waited for a cab instead, getting depressed about the pending Monday morning drive home.

We had just left the SOS crew at GH to walk over to Dirty Harry's to listen to the band, and just before we entered it went dark!

Sloppy Joe's was still going strong so we were lucky enough to get a table and listen to the band play, and about 1/2 hour later the lights came back on.

Talking to a local friend of ours who lives there she said that the island goes dark 2 to 4 times a year, all the way up Islamorada.

It was wierd. We had just gone back to our B+B. Very dark on the side streets. Some yahoo hit a power pole?

I was out walking the dogs and the power went out here for about 5 seconds, then everything came back on. I looked across the bay and Marathon was black so what ever happened it was from MM54 south

I was standing with the Serious crew (my new family) and took it as a sign that we should be wrapping up the weekend and getting some rest for the long trip home Monday..........



Which I promptly ignored and went back to drinking in front of Sloppy Joes :26::26:

Oh yeah had been drinking for some time at that point!!!!

Ya know, it just reminded me of the 1998 IJSBA World Finals in Havasu. We had INCREDIBLE windstorms the whole week; 4-6 foot white caps on Lake Havasu; AND an EARTHQUAKE.

(I think a few OSO members were there too.)

Crazy stuff always happens at the Worlds.
