Saw you yesterday in the cove, Clay... I did a lap in my maroon and white Checkmate with the blower hatch around your tie-up. :) Did you see us cruise by?

For our first Lake Travis splashdown we decided to just keep it simple with me bringing the girl on the left

and Bobby brought his standby Steffi

The boat ran good and all in all everything went smoothly considering the unfamiliar waters.

A couple observations:
Saw some pretty reckless boat operation given the tighter confines of the lake compared to Lake Michigan... That's going to take some getting used to.

And my anchor didn't seem to wanna grab in Devil's Cove.

What kind of anchor do most people use? What's the depth in there?

Yep, I saw (and heard) you cruise around us.

I use a Large Box Anchor. It works well in Lake Travis. You only need about 100 feet of anchor line for Devil's Cove. However, you will need over 150 feet for Hippie Hollow.

You should be able to pick one up at West Marine (183 and Burnet).

Thanks, I'll look into that. My anchor just dragged.

What part did you hear, my little hamster-in-wheel 454 or the stereo? I didn't think we were making that much noise.

I miss my pantera. :(

Time to start saving for something a little more respectable even though the Bishop is a fun little skipper.

In that arm of the lake from C&C to the dam you are looking at anywhere from 75 to 200ft deep. For devils cove with the lake full if your toward center of cove you'll need 150ft of rope otherwise you'll end up dragging anchor like 90% of the people out there do when wind whips up. And before anyone ties up to you ask them if they have an anchor. No anchor,no tie up other wise they will end up
breaking you loose. Amazing the number of idiots out there with no anchor,or bumpers,or brains.
