The Unlimited hydroplanes are set to compete for the 2012 Oryx Cup U.I.M World Championship on January 10-12 in Doha, Qatar. Driver Steve David and the team are leading the National High Points race after wins in Seattle, Washington and San Diego, California, with the Spirit of Qatar 96 in second place. The Oberto team will be wrapping up the 2012 season in Doha, then starting the 2013 season at the same location on February 9-12. I used to watch the Seattle races on TV, think it was local tv station coverage. Been thinking of following unlimited hydroplane for the last couple of years, started when I saw Oh Boy! Oberto parked at a restaurant in Washington State. This is the year to start watching and even attending races. Anyway, good luck!

Oh Boy! Oberto's 142 mph qualifying speed was second fastest in the session. Heat draws are coming up next with Heat 1A starting at 1:20 PM in Doha.
