I love New York

The rich would pay more for luxury items through an additional 5% tax imposed on cars costing more than $60,000, aircraft costing more than $500,000, yachts costing at least $200,000 and jewelry and furs costing in excess of $20,000.

If they put these taxes in place the car and boat dealers in New York will be driven out of business.
 
Yeah, ain't it funny how they never seem to be able to figure out how to reduce spending. Always easier to just raise taxes.

I hate politicians.

Whoa, careful there Jay, that is almost a conservative statement, you may get some kind of demerit or something. I agree however, and frankly in the general scheme of things, NY should be able to find some HUGE cost savings if they just looked, but they refuse to look because they will never get re-elected if they "cut" (reduce the rate of increase) something. They are also screwed because their money base is in the city and it is to easy to go or move to CT or NJ to avoid many of these ridiculous fees.
 
Just got done watching this morning's new and they were speaking about this, one reporter even commented on how to save a few bucks...... he was standing there holding what looked to be 2 lengthy novels and said they should cut back on paper and printing usage. He estimated each one cost approx $58 real dollars (not government inflated pricing) distributed to about 700,000 people give or take a few which totals $40,600,000. That would be one area to start getting back the $15B missing in the budget.

I still love NY. Yup, costs a friggin fortune to even go in for a night but there is still no other place like it.
 
It's one of the reasons a lot of NY'ers move to Jersey...and we think our taxes are high!! LOL

You think NY is bad, try LA or San Fran....CA. Shoe box houses cost $1M over there.... Ya'll don't know how good you have it! If you don't make at least six figures in NY/NJ/CT/MA you're not doin so well...

I'm gettin tired of it...maybe I'll join you in Florida...Yup, another tourist yankee for ya!! :)
