"Official" NFL Smack Talkin' Thread

Always a hater... why ya hate on the Big 10 so much?
Luck looks like he should hold a "Will Work for Food" sign is why I like him. And they're the Udogs.
Brady is still "That Team Up North" but that's another thread. MODERATOR!

Cause I grew up in the Pac 8, Pac 10, Pac 12 and the Big 10 were our Rose Bowl fodder. (Yes, we are totally capable of counting the teams in the league and adjusting accordingly. We don't have to stop counting when we run out of fingers!)

Luck ran out and Chowder Heads blow them away. I watched as much as I could stand.
Stuper Bowl Smack Talkin coming up Feb 1. Who do you like Rat?

Yet they have no method of distinguishing OSU from OU.

Sure we do. OSU, Oregon State University, wear orange and black and have Beavers runnin around. OU, Oakland University, is down there close to you in SE Michigan and have Grizzlies' runnin around. No problem.....

And don't be hatin just cause our Pac 12 graduates can count past their fingers..... Good thing you didn't have someone figure it out who had a industrial accident and only had 8 or 9 fingers.....

And they are saying NE is under investigation for purposely underinflating footballs?

I like Seattle, teams are pretty even, neutral site, young guys beat old guys at the end of the game. Kinda like GB game......

I'm sure one of the stories, especially now they are investigating NE for possible cheating last night, is that they have not won a Super Bowl since they were caught cheating by stealing signals in 2007 and penalized.

Does anybody, besides New England, know how much air you have to take out of a football to make a 40 point difference in a game?

Yowza, 11 of the 12 footballs were underinflated by 2 pounds. So, I guess the earlier question's answer was 2 pounds.

All balls are checked 2 hours before the game then given to the stadium equipment people to protect. I think they should put the Patriots on the bus and let Indy play in the Superbowl. What else can you do? Luck was only 12 of 33 on passing with 2 interceptions and only 1 of 11 on downfield passes. He had never been less than 20% on downfied passes in his entire Pro career. Plus Indy lost a fumble. Brady was 23 of 35 with the balls that are easier to grip in a wet and cold environment. NE also only had one turnover. I really do think they should forfeit the win.

I still do not understand people and teams who cheat.

I haven't followed the story other than this thread. Not my teams. So my unbiased reaction is one of surprise that this is even possible. If they did cheat, I hope Seattle kicks their ass. I can certainly say as a fan of football that it will be less fun even THINKING that there could be funny business going on in future games I watch. Say it isn't so, Joe.

So Paul, You have followed this. I didn't see the game. At what point in the game did the Colts discover the issue and how many points did NE score AFTER the ref stopped the game and switched out the ball? That will help answer the question of how it may have impacted the 40 points.
The ethical issue remains, of course. Just separating the issue of whether the cheating was effective from the issue of was it wrong.
Hell yes it was wrong.

They switched the ball out with another ball, but it was from the Indy sideline because of the interception. The most interesting thing, if there hadn't been an interception by Indy, it never would have been figured out. Only the defender intercepting one of Brady's passes questioned the ball because it felt soft. So, they switched the ball out.

There is no good answer at this point. I think they should suspend the team from the Super Bowl, but obviously they can't. It's like in 2007 when the Patriots were caught cheating by stealing other teams sideline signals. The rumor was out there they had been doing it for quite a few years, and finally the league set up a sting and caught them at it. Same team, same coach, same owner. Big fines and lost a draft pick, but they had won the Superbowls using the signal stealing. Brady admitted in 2011, in an interview, he likes underinflated balls. They were caught in 2006 and nothing happened. They were caught in 2007 and the big fines and draft pick loss. Now this. In college, it would be forfeit all of your wins and no playoffs for two or three years minimum.

Anyway, another Superbowl for a team that already has questionable wins in previous superbowls. Faulk, and other Rams players, still say the Patriots cheated by taping them during walk through practice before XXXVI. They don't think the fine and draft choice losses were nearly big enough.

Like I said, no good answer. But it once again puts every win the Pats have in suspicion.
