Offshore record run

Wendsday morning Bob Russell will be taking off from the Golden Gate Bridge heading for long beach to break an old record set by Bob Norskog in a gasoline powered boat. He will be using his 51ft Outerlimits Cat Powered by Sterling Performance Engines. The old record of 6 hours should be taken down if everything goes according to plan which is never easy in a high performance boat. He hopes to make the run in a little over 4 1/2 hours running nonstop for 435 miles. We should be down at the long beach yard house by lunch time. I will be off the internet but you can call my cell for updates. 909-285-7486

Good luck, stay safe!!!

We'll chat later.....

I launched the boat yesterday and ran it over to the starting point and the bay around alcatraz was like glass. Boat felt so heavy with the 600plus gallons on board

run is done. 8 hours 15 minutes. two bad fuel transfer pumps so that kept the boat stopping to transfer fuel manually. other wise boat would have beaten the record by over an hour. Next one up is Newport Beach to San Diego.

I will have to check but I really don't know, Its only about 100 miles and we will be doing it just for the fun of it. Should be able to do it in about 1 hour. Going to give the four rear seats to whoever sponsors it and they can ride for the ride of there life. Maybe thats the wrong thing to say LOL. Anyway this run is more for working out the bugs we just had in the last run so that this next spring we can make the run from San Diego to Cabo. 1000 miles
