Oil Breaks $40

...on it's way down!

It seems like just a short time ago that the priick trader did his buy at $100 so he could tell everyone he was the first guy to trade at that price. Such sweet revenge on these SOB's. The producing countries, the oil companies and mostly the speculators. As I watch the prices tumble, it's with great satisfaction that I think about all those guys buried in futures that are priced at triple+ of today's $39 close.

So now Chavez is going to have his socialist state crumbling around him, the Russian's dream of recreating the Soviet Union are now not even worth daydreaming about and Iran should be close to crumbling with the lack of petro-dollars to prop them up.

What's that saying? Something about "comes around..."?

So, what is it that happened that actually brought the price back into check??
I'm not savvy with this stuff, but it was unrealistically high, and now it's almost unrealistically low.
What gives??

Short answer: global drop in demand.

It was never worth the high to begin with, my friend. :) And it's current low is not unrealistically low. It's close to where it should have been (still a tad high) for the last 4 years to begin with. I can't stand to hear from a few on tv that this price tumble is a "tax break" to the American consumer when it was never worth the high price to begin with. It's the same exact thing with housing prices. Homes were never really worth their highs, but are now down to their nearly true worth to begin with.

Chris those "speculators" probably made just as much on the way down as they did not the way up if they were any good.
