Too Funny!
They both inhabit some grungy places, they both love a good battle, and neither is overly concerned about fighting fair. It’s what makes the Redneck Fishing Tournament so fun.
Asian carp have spread throughout the Midwest with reckless abandon. The inhabitants that have suffered their spread are sick of it, and the two are doing battle, in Illinois at least.
For $60 in Bath, Ill., you too can join the hoards of helmet-wearing, flip-flopping self-proclaimed rednecks waging battle against invasive Asian carp that ensued this past weekend, and presumably will next year.
The rednecks range from rugby players from Europe to bikini-clad coeds. According to Peoria’s PJ Star, for the eighth year in a row, they’ve gone to war on the invasive carp, in the name of redneck-ness, and of course, conserving their rivers and native species. Fun, costumes, and a good cause? Sounds like a wonderful weekend to us. - Rick Bach
