CJ is an extremely talented guy. I have seen him live several times. As the Colin James band, Collin James and the Little Big Band and most recently as the Colin James Blues Band. The guy can seriously play a guitar, be it rockin out, pickin a 30's big band tune or wailin out the blues rifs.
In about 1991 or 92 I was in a classic rock band that covered YYZ. Classic rock, but more technical stuff... rush, genesis, that sort of thing.... One night we were "misbooked" into a biker bar in Findlay Ohio. So... we show up and the crowd is rough. Really rough.
So we load in among stares. "Ya'll aint from around here, is ya?"
We soundchecked playing the song "Beer drinker and hellraisers" the dance floor filled with drunken bikerettes.
Then I started the little fast cymbal notes... and we broke into YYZ with a vengeance. They all stopped and just stood there, not knowing what we were playing and when the dancing part would start.
Key to Bala (where I saw them in the Summer) is a small venue as well, and you can boat right up to it!! (not a good idea if you want to get loaded though, lots of cops)
Tipped a few back with some of the Honeymoon Suite boys about 25 yrs ago.
Heres anothe one for the historians...Platinum Blonde. pretty decent guys and one arsehole primadonna freak singer. The manager was my buddy's next door neighbour. Got ripped with the band several times but singer thought he was above partying with commoners. Wonder why they split up huh.
Adam, too bad you are too young to know the glory days of the Kee in the late 70's,to the early 90's. We used to go see Goddo,April Wine, Wilcox,Teenage Head, Max Webster and even Rush one new years eve. The place was crowded with boats. No morons tossing empties or pukin off the deck into boats docked below. Getting tanked and calling the bouncers names and then disappearing into the way over crowded crowd.
Thats when the key was the place to see live music.
