It's mindless actions like that which cause organizations that can afford it the least to lose their best people. I'm sure that there's plenty of people in any organization that wouldn't be missed for those days. And I could see doing it in a larger organization- but the day before I'd have my key people in to tell them to disregard it- it's not applicable to them.
If it were me, I'd take that as a sign that my talents would be more appreciated elsewhere.
If you work for someone else, you should never stop investigating alternative opportunities. Not even for a day. Your employer doesn't. As an employer, I can say that. You couldn't get one of my guys away from me. I treat them like they're the people that feed my family- because they do. If ever I have the feeling about any one of them contrary to that, their exit process begins.
